Tread Lightly!

The one thing about certain areas off main roads is they aren’t the easiest to reach. And when trash somehow finds its way into these spots, it tends to stay for a while because not many people have the ability to participate in clean up programs.

However, thanks to numerous volunteers from Calvary Overland, 15 miles of difficult-to-reach beach area were recently cleaned up inside the North Padre Island National Seashore in Yarborough, Texas.

The area required well-equipped four-wheel-drive vehicles to reach because of challenging beach conditions, so is made for an important use of Quadratec’s 50-for-50 Trail Stewardship Initiative Grant.

In all, 28 volunteers hauled away 125 bags of trash, along with discarded construction materials, 55-gallon oil drums and many other large items.

”I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your invaluable support of our 2023 conservation project,” said Brandon Darwin, Owner and Founder of Calvary Overland. “It’s with immense pleasure that I can share the resounding success we achieved. We sincerely thank you for your unwavering support, which made our 2023 project a great success.

”Looking ahead, we’re excited to increase our impact and involvement in 2024. Your partnership with Calvary Overland has been invaluable, and we hope you’ll join forces with us again next year. Together, we can achieve even more in our mission to protect our natural treasures. Thank you for being a crucial part of our conservation efforts, and we look forward to a brighter future in 2024 and beyond.”

This North Padre Island National Seashore Cleanup project was the 31st of 50 trail and public land restoration events Quadratec will help sponsor in each state by April 2024.

So far through its supported projects, the 50-for-50 Stewardship Grant has accumulated 5,980 volunteer hours with a total value of $179,050, pulled away 104,035 pounds of trash and improved 730 miles of trail.

Quadratec’s ’50-for-50’ stewardship grant fund helps project managers pay for equipment, fees, volunteer support, food, fuel, signage and other miscellaneous costs.

Quadratec has been a supporting partner of Tread Lightly! for more than 20 years, and a longtime fundraiser for Tread Lightly!’s stewardship programs. The company has also promoted Tread Lightly! and other trail restoration efforts through its Quadratec Cares ‘Energize the Environment’ program.

Clubs and individuals are required to be active, supporting members of Tread Lightly! to be eligible to apply for ’50-for-50’ grant funding. To learn more about the Quadratec ’50-for-50 program, visit Quadratec's 50 for 50 Trails Stewardship Grant Initiative.
