Why is there not an option to use a gift card at checkout?
There is an option for using a gift card at checkout. After you enter your credit card information there is a location to enter your gift card info as well.

Do your gift cards have a expiration ?
They do not, though typically after 1-2 years they are purged and may not work online. If this is the case, just contact Customer Service and they'll either apply it as a store credit or create a new gift cert in the same dollar amount.
