Crown Automotive Muffler Assembly Reviews
Its not as expensive as I thought, because others for the year of the car, are expensive
The right size muffler to fit within the space where it installs . The inlet is sized for a catalytic converters so if you wish to eliminate it , you’ll need an extension pipe and an adapter properly sized . The tail pipe is fine if you wish to have it exit out to the left rear behind the tire . At the last minute , I opted to purchase the new tail pipe quadratic has which exits straight out to the rear bumper . Quadratic has this muffler separate of you wish to separately purchase the straight tail pipe as I did but that is preference . The price works out around the same .
I give it 3 starts because it's installed; it's quieter, and I no longer get dizzy driving my Jeep around. But you don't get much for your money.
The description says "Crown", but I received Walker parts. They're functionally visually equivalent to what's pictured, but I perceive Crown as a more premium brand. You get just a muffler and a tailpipe. No clamps or anything, just the 2 pieces for twice the price of ordering them from that big internet company that starts with an A.
This one is different than the one in my 1980 CJ5. Mine exited out the back. This one exits out the side. I like it better though, as it tucks between the leaf spring and the frame and exits just behind the driver's side rear tire where it is protected. The only thing that had to be improvised was the hanger for the tailpipe. You'll want to check which tailpipe you have before ordering if you want a direct replacement. I like this exit location better although it might rub big tires. My 33s are not a problem, but 35s or larger might require more improvising. But then again, tires that big would require more lift, so it probably wouldn't be a problem.
