Quadratec sponsors three drivers in the UROC Atlantic Division events

Team Quadratec

Quadratec, Inc. is proud to announce the participation of Team Quadratec in the United Rock Crawling and Off-Road Challenge (UROC) Pro-National Atlantic Division for the 2006 Season. The division was created from a merger of UROC and Paragon Adventure Park's NEUROC series to create the Atlantic Division for UROC. This division is a fresh face to the West Coast Extreme Series and Team Quadratec looks forward to the coming year.

Team Quadratec has three vehicles in the Stock, Stock Modified and Super Modified. Returning for the 2005 season is Aaron Stapen and his spotter Don Nichols from Team Mallcrawler and joining him is number 104 Jack Bettio. Jack Bettio and his spotter, Dave Cleary, have been in the professional rock crawling scene since it's conception and has a long history of being a top performer. Joining Jack's team is Charlie Melchner from Mahopac Marine Racing. Charlie and his Rock Crusher buggies has long been a trendsetter in design for the Super Modified class and we look forward to his participation with Jack and Aaron. We wish Team Quadratec the best of luck in the upcoming season and look for more updates and event news in the future!

About UROC Competition

The Competitions are composed of a series of courses that push the spotter, driver and their vehicle to the limits. In scoring each competitor's run, the goal is to accumulate the number fewest possible points. Points are given for back-ups, one point; hitting specific gate cones, ten points; and for using tools such as a strap or a winch, 35 points. The courses are timed and if the vehicle has not completed the course in the allotted time then the score of 40 is given as a time out. Points can be deducted from this for things such as progressing through gates (progression points) or for taking bonus lines or even Spotter ride-a-longs. If the vehicle is damaged in a course they have 20 minutes to get repaired and show up at the next course or they receive a score of 50 as a no show. It is even possible to complete a course with negative points to help out on the over all score!

The vehicles are built to exact standards in safety equipment and vehicle construction. The events are broken down into three classes; Stock, Modified and the Super Modified. The Stock Class has a strong resemblance to what you would have seen in the early days of NASCAR with stock vehicles but all glass removed and items added for safety such as roll cages and five point harnesses. The max tire size for the Stock Class is 35" tire. The Modified Class still has some resemblance to a stock vehicle but extreme modifications have been made. The vehicle frame is often the only stock part as the body has been cut and customized to allow for maximum tire clearance and trail performance. Like the Stock Class the vehicles must remain in a two seat with a front engine configuration. The Super-Modified Class is full of custom made "moon buggies" that rarely resemble a vehicle. Low center of gravity and lightweight are the rules for this class. The vehicles are often seen nearly defying the laws of physics going up sheer mountainsides or traversing rocks on near vertical side slants.
