Day 2 - Quadratec takes you "Behind The Rocks" in Moab, UT

The town is a buzz this April 11th with Jeep® enthusiasts from all around the country rolling into to the normally quiet little town of Moab Utah. The streets are packed with elaborate gooseneck trailers on the back of pickup trucks and giant tractor trailers rolling thru the town, all ready for this week's worth of adventures. This year, the weather is beautiful! So far it's been in the upper 70's and promises to get into the low to mid 80's and sunny. We couldn't ask for much more!
The Quadratec crew met this Tuesday morning at 8:30am at the show arena for the trail run sponsored by Skyjacker Suspensions. This day's challenge is a trail called "Behind The Rocks", which is a great trail for those who like the beautiful scenery of Moab - with the occasional truck-busting obsticle thrown in the way "to keep it interesting".
This trail is challenging right from the word "go"!
White Knuckle Hill is the kind of hill that takes you (almost) vertical right away. It makes you grit your teeth AND trust your spotter. Almost all 40 vehicles on this run attempted the hill climb, and most enjoyed success. A few vehicles did need winching assistance from our trail guide, Tony, from Red Rock 4-Wheelers. Those who did not attempt the steep hill back tracked and took a bypass, meeting up with the group about a 1/2 mile further down the trail.
The rest of the "Behind The Rocks" trail was very dusty - but fun never-the-less. The desert road took us back around and down to the highway, which ultimately led back into town. We then rallied at the arena with the crews from MasterCraft Suspension Seats, from Skyjacker Suspensions, and my driver Laurie from the publisher Ten Magazines. In all, it was a carnage-free day, but it certainly featured plenty of excitement!
The town is getting more and more packed with off-road enthusiasts - and all are ready to tackle Moab's 40th Annual Easter Jeep Safari! As the sun sets on April 11th, we settle-in for a great night of swapping war stories and "tall tales" of the day's glorious adventures. Each day this week will be more and more full of adventure and excitement. On April 12th we'll tackle the Moab Rim trail with friends from MasterCraft Suspension Seats. Stay tuned!
