Day 3 - Quadratec takes you to Poison Spider Mesa

Wednesday April 12th, 2006
For vendors at the Moab Easter Safari, Wednesday is a busy day of activity and preparation!
On one hand, we're all getting ready for the giant vendor show that begins bright & early on Thursday at 7am. On the other hand, we also have another great trail ride on today's schedule.

For those of us on the business side of the hobby, Thursday's vendor arena show is a big part of what the week is all about. Located at the Spanish Trail Arena on highway 191 just outside of town, the show is a great chance for the enthusiast public to meet some of the good people behind the scenes of the off-road industry. Among the manufacturers packed inside the 2006 show are some of our favorite vendors, such as Skyjacker Suspensions, MasterCraft Racing Seats, Olympic 4x4 Products and Fabtech Motorsports (to name only a few).

After wrapping up the work for Thursday's show, we all prepare to embark on Wednesday's trail run, hosted by MasterCraft Racing Seats. The parking lot of the arena gradually fills up as excited participants emerge from all over. Originally this ride was scheduled to lead us up the Moab Rim, but at the last minute it was changed to the Poison Spider Mesa trail. Apparently, the Rim is overcrowded with fellow four wheelers.

The Poison Spider Mesa Trail kicks off along the Colorado River and winds back through some of the most the breathtaking scenery you can imagine. Crawling our way back along the slick rock, this trail goes for several miles. Our large group is really spread out along the Mesa. Unlike Tuesday, where we all made it to White Knuckle Hill together, this ride is more of an off-road cruise with some minor obstacles, hill climbs and occasional nerve racking off-camber situations (not my favorite!). Poison Spider Mesa is a fun mix of sand and rocks. The ride featured only minor damage to a couple vehicles, one of which happened to be our good friends from KC HiLiTES.

Back at the Quadratec tent, our Red "Stage 3" Jeep is getting plenty of attention from everyone stopping by. The ORFab Rock Doors and MasterCraft Baja Recliner Seats are a huge hit. Folks are excited about the chance to win the Stage 3 vehicle. It also provides those with 97-06 Jeep Wranglers some new ideas on how to modify their own vehicles.
