Bio for Ron "R2" Lind - Team Quadratec Mechanic

I would have to say that my 4 Wheeling experience began back in 1979 when I was in high school. A good friend of mine had an old Willy’s pickup that we would run all over his farm. After graduating from Harford Vo-Tech for auto mechanics, I got my first job as an Auto Tech. I saved up and was able to buy my first Jeep which was a 1979 CJ7 Renegade. I did a lot of mods to it, but only wheeled it lightly, it was more of a looker than a mudder. After two accidents when I wasn’t even driving, my insurance company raised my rates through the roof. I couldn’t afford to drive it any more so I sold it before it got wrecked again.
For several years I had many other 4X4's but I still missed my Jeep. Then I got an opportunity to work at a Jeep Dealership and again enjoyed being around them and working on them. A few years later they traded in a 1987 Wrangler with a bad engine so I was able to buy it cheap. I’ve been wheeling with it ever since. Of course, it’s a constant work in progress making things bigger and better every year.
A good friend of mine talked us into going to Camp Jeep for the first time in 2000. This is where I first met Bruce Shallis, Ron Lobb and Mark Lecher. They told me more about Rausch Creek and Paragon. After talking more with Bruce, I joined his club East Coast 4X4 Experience (EC4X4E) and met a great bunch of people and did a whole lot more wheeling. Now I help guide and work around Rausch Creek as much as I can. About two years ago Bruce asked me to help out at All Truck Carlisle for Rausch Creek’s Rock Crawling demo which was a lot of fun. Later I was asked if I would like to help out and do some wrenching for their rock racing team. I try to help out as much as possible by going to as many events as I can. Now I’m hooked.
I would like to thank my wife and kids for enjoying the sport enough to let me get more involved and spend so much time away from them.
