The Cherokee XJ was first released by Jeep in 1984 and marketed as a "Sportswagon" before SUV's existed. Opting for a unibody design helped to keep the weight low, increase fuel economy and offer a roomy interior for rider comfort. Offered in 2 and 4 door models throughout production until 2001, a distinct break takes place between the '96-'97 model years. Slight changes to the body, trim and construction can be seen, while the suspension remained a hybrid of front coil springs and rear leaf springs. Body panels and chassis parts are still available to keep the Cherokees on the road. Whether you need brake parts, from the wheel cylinder to the booster or hard to find suspension parts, Quadratec® has the Essentials® in organized, easy to follow diagrams showing the parts which are available and how they relate to each other.
