The Wranglers and Cherokees with the 2.5 engine do not come with an engine oil pan guard. This plate is designed to protect the oil pan from flying debris impacts both on and off the trail. Take a look from the contact path of your front tires up towards the oil pan, anything flipped up by the tire has a direct shot at the pan. This plate is made from 1/8" steel plate and is bonded to the oil pan with adhesive. Direction should be followed with installation, and once properly installed is nearly impossible to remove. Does not interfere with rear oil drain.
