Two birds. One stone. That's the result when you upgrade to one of these bumper/tire carrier combinations from the stock bumper and tailgate-mounted carrier.

We all know just how wimpy the factory rear bumper can be, but when you add a suspension lift and larger tires for off-pavement travels, it only makes sense to change out that bumper for added protection. At the same time, putting a larger tire on the stock carrier adds weight and stress that your tailgate does not need. So a tire carrier gets that heavier spare off the tailgate and on a strong platform able to safely support that extra weight.
