Reviews for Truck-Lite LED Headlight Kit for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Very bright.
Right out of the box you can tell the quality of these lights are top notch. The lights are significantly brighter than the stock headlights and install quickly and easily with the use of a screwdriver. If your trying to decide on what likes to go with as I was you will not be disappointed in the Truck-Lite LED Headlight Kit.
Purchased the Truck-Lite LEDs w/PWM separately. No need for the H13/H4 wires if you purchase the PWMs. LEDs are fantastic. Love the look and function. Took 20 minutes to install.
As far as construction is concerned, these are well built lights. I've submerged them while on the trail, been through some heavy downpours, and there is no water intrusion and no fogging inside the housings. They've been whacked with branches and hit by rocks, so far no cracks and no scratches. I am not a fan of the bug-eyed LED lights, so these are a definite win in the appearance department as well. However, for me these lights fail for several reasons. The color temperature is close to 6500k, closer to the bluish end of the spectrum, which I feel has very poor performance during a rainy night. Sure, they're bright, but they don't illuminate as much. I would prefer if they were closer to 4300k which is what I would consider a true daylight color temperature. This last weekend, while driving at night in the mountains, I would have gladly traded someone for their stock headlights. The white line at the edge of the road was visible, and so were the reflectors on the guard rails, but there was just not much forward visibility. I would compare it to a radiant heater, which heats up objects but doesn't really put out a lot of direct heat. These lights do illuminate things, but they don't throw out a lot of light in general. These lights will also require PWM. I have not yet installed a PWM, so I have that wonderful flicker. Just go ahead and get the modules when you order the lights so you don't have to do the install twice. I wonder why they don't just go ahead and build it into the light itself or into the harness, there aren't that many vehicles built these days which use round headlights so its safe to say they will be installed on a newish Jeep which has CANBUS and will make the modulators necessary. I am also not a fan of the beam pattern. Instead of having a nice cutoff these have a bright square. If you've used a CREE LED flashlight then you're probably familiar with the output, that super bright square of light with some dimmer light spilling around the edges. Bottom line, can't fault the construction or the quality of the lights themselves, they just miss the mark when it comes down to the details and in real-world daily use.
Not happy with this product, only had them a few months and one is out already. LED light are designed to last years and one of these last only a couple of months.
