Reviews for AEV 30406035AB Rear Vision System for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK with OEM Navigation
This works great! No complaints at all, is fantastic
Excellent quality camera, no guidelines though
Excellent item, youtube helps at the last stage of wiring laying. Expensive but does the job. Note: its a rear view camera not intended for parking or reverse accuracy.
I bought the aev rear camera for a 2016 JK rubicon unlimited with nav. I also had to buy aev Pintler wheels because this camera would not work with OEM wheels. The installation instructions are for a vehicle several years older than mine. While they are good for general sequencing of what you need to do they were a bit inadequate for my year JK. So if you are one that needs to follow instructions meticulously and you have a newer model (my instructions were dated a few years before my model) installation may be confusing especially when it comes to removing dash panels and which ones to do first. My install which I did myself took me four hours. Camera with factory nav is satisfactory. It also works well at night but appears more like a black and white picture then due to low light levels. The center brake light mounted above camera is plenty bright. My first experience with this backup light was in my son-in-law's JK with an aftermarket alpine 9 inch display and that would rate five stars. The OEM nav display is just adequate on resolution, o wow factor. Given the visibility out the back of a JK this camera is a good investment, especially if you have to back up on a narrow shelf road high up in the Rocky mountains.
When it worked it was great... Died after 12,500 miles (20,000 kms) of use. Paid $1100 CAD.
Great Camera, install really nice, instructions are easy, paid almost $1100 CAD with exchange, taxes and duty.
BUT...
This was for my brand new 2016 Jeep that I bought and installed in 2017 on my Wrangler 75 Anniversary. This is my 3rd vehicle so I don't drive it much. I just broke 20,000 km's on it (12,500 Miles) and the picture stopped working. So about 2 1/2 -3 years of having it on the Jeep but with less than a full year of driving based on the mileage and this thing died. Paid Over a grand... DO NOT BUY THIS, seriously not worth it. And since I don't' drive much, no warranty because it's been too long (3 years or so). Save your money and buy a cheap one.
Camera bracket did not fit between my rim spacing, had to grind it down a LOT just to make it pass through witch scratched my new rims. Second , had to buy the OEM nav.radio to make it work. You'll be better off getting something else, cost me why too much money and time.
