We all know there are plenty of Jeep modifications that show up front and center. Stuff that transforms the thing from a factory stock vehicle into a super off-road trail machine. Items like bumpers and sidebars, larger tires, stronger suspension components, as well as lighter wheels, racks and wider flares.

And then there are mods that come along simply to make life easier. They aren’t flashy, won’t take a rock strike, or help power through mud or sand pits.

But they definitely improve comfort and drivability.

Such is the Quadratec Jeep Dead Pedal.

Sure, it may not seem like much, but plug one into that dead space on the left of the driver's footwell and take a spin around the neighborhood, and you’ll quickly change your mind.

Now, the primary purpose of a dead pedal isn’t just to fill up empty space. It is to offer a rest area for the left foot during long drives, and this piece does this brilliantly. Its positioning feels natural, allowing the driver to rest their foot comfortably. The grip on the pedal is secure, ensuring that the foot does not slide off, even in muddy or wet conditions. Over long drives, the difference is definitely noticable, with reduced fatigue and enhanced driving comfort.

Quadratec’s version is essentially a bolt-on application designed specifically for 2018 and newer Jeep Wrangler JL and JT models, and sports a rugged look that seamlessly complements the Jeep’s interior aesthetics. It is designed with high-quality, powder-coated 304 stainless steel and provides a durable, non-slip surface for the driver's left foot, allowing for that comfortable and relaxed driving experience, particularly, again, during long off-road adventures.

The installation is relatively straightforward, does not require any drilling and includes all necessary hardware to bolt the product into factory-provided mounting locations. Once installed, it feels like a native part of the Jeep's interior. Plus, with the optional rubberized pedal pad, you can really ensure your foot won’t slide off during inclement conditions, or when your body is turned and looking out the side or rear windows.

Also, if you are like me and have floor liners installed, the pedal even hinges up and out of the way when you need to pull those liners out for cleaning — especially after a long weekend of off-roading.

I’ve had the deal pedal in my Jeep almost from the day it rolled off the lot and it has simply become ingrained in my day-to-day vehicle operation. So much so that when I take the JTe out for events or on longer trips, I really miss that pedal — as well as its comfort.

So, some things to quickly note. Obviously, this product is for automatic transmission vehicles only, and it does not fit the footwell in 4xe Wrangler versions.

But for all other Wrangler JL and JT owners, it definitely is a must-have driving improvement modification.
