WeRock 2007: Sequatchie Tennessee
Friday May 11th, 2007
Team Quadratec rolled into Kimball, Tennessee at 7:00am Friday morning on May 11th. The long drive for all the team members had taken its toll as we unloaded our bags and checked into our hotel.
After a couple of hours of rest the team assembled inthe parking loat and began to set-up shop. The drivers unloaded their vehicles and began a point by point inspection to insure that all was ready for the upcoming days of extreme competition.
Ron Lind, the team mechanic began to unload parts and assign duties as to who was going to work on what. He began rewiring Gavin Lewis's Stock Modified #831 relay center while Kurt Shramovich's Stock Class vehicle, #832, was put on jack strands and the front drive shafts were removed and replaced.
Other team members took on the task of taking the freshly splined chromolly front axle shafts and clearanced them with a grinder for more turning radius. Even though these were the spare shafts they had to be perfect and assembled in case they would be needed over the weekend.
Most of this work should have been done before the long trip but due to complications in delivery and machine time it had to wait until the day of tech inspection. Some of the parts were even shipped directly to the teams hotel awaiting their arrival due to their custom nature and design.
The tent was set up to give the team a place to work out of the climbing Tennessee sun and flags were raised to announce that Team Quadratec had arrived and was ready for action!
As the day went by other teams began to roll into the lot getting prepared for the technical inspection and to check-in process. The lot was full of all the Stock, Stock Modified & Unlimited competitors and the various means of their transport. Some were on open trailers, others were in elaborate closed trailers with full shops and camper additions while some were brought in partially disassembled and the teams raced to put them back in one piece for the final inspection.
The weather did not hold however, as a thunder storm brought the normal We-Rock Show & Shine to an early end. The teams went back to their respective lodgings and rested for the weekends events.
