Reviews for Quadratec Brute Strength™ Winch Bumper for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
Strength and weight
Really happy with how it turned out. It's a pain to install though as the instruction manual is not complete so you have to guess some. Tip: Install the spacers before the winch plate on Jeep gladiator 2020 sport S models.
This bumper will be a great upgrade for my 2020 Gladiator Rubicon.
Great Fit easy install
Thank you, i'm very satisfied.
I ordered the stubby bumper and winch for my Rubicon. Both were here in less then a week with no shipping problems. The hardest step was getting the O.E.M. stuff off.The instructions were simple and easy to understand. I did the install by myself and only took me 6hrs,( I'm old and out of shape). The fit and finish of the product is excellent, which lead to a very easy install. I am very pleased with Quadratec and there products.
Great bumper, built well, install was fairly easy. Make sure if you're installing a winch install it after you install the steel substructure and before you install the aluminum bumper itself. This makes the installation of the winch much easier.
Design
Finally got around to installing the bumper - it sat in the garage for 3 weeks. Couple things - I like it overall. But a couple things to point out. When I was installing it, the instructions said to put the winch plate on - but the winch plate was solidly attached to the bumper. We puzzled over this until we rolled it over and found two bolts were holding them together. Would have been nice if the instructions had indicated that the two pieces needed to be separated. While the instructions were quite detailed in how to get the fog lights out of the old OEM bumper, instructions about wiring in the new bumper were non-existent - only how to put the lights on the bumper. Since the fog lights are moved towards the middle, the connection to the plug is a bit tight and it cannot be reattached to the frame bracket. And there was nothing about where all that wiring could be secured.
Packing - very big box, actually seems to have been too big for the contents - it was loose enough inside that things would jostle around - so smaller box or something to keep things in place better. Everything was thoroughly wrapped in foam sheets and bubble wrap. The paint on the tow hooks was scraped off on a few spots from shifting and bouncing around.
Will not work with factory skid plates. I saw a review that said it will not work with the Mojave skip plate and I can confirm that it will NOT work with the rubicon skid plate. Hoop needed to be bent to line the holes up to bolt it together probably from bouncing around in the box during shipping and I was one M10x30 bolt short. Customer service offered me a discount on their skid plate that I can’t find anywhere guaranteeing that it will fit a rubicon. Not happy about spending more money on something I should not have needed to begin with. If anywhere it had said will not fit a rubicon I would not have purchased it. I am not sending it back since I spent time and money having parts from it powder coated.
