Reviews for Old Man Emu 2" Sport Suspension System for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unimited
Ride improvement both on and off road
I used this to replace a Skyjacker Puck Lift the previous owner installed. The ride with the OME kit is much improved and gave me a full 2.5” (HD springs) I highly recommend this for a minor lift to fit 285-70-17 tires!! Should be great combined with a small body lift for a full 33x12.50 tire with articulation.
Woot woot! Great products. Excited to be ready for the trails! (PS and all the yellow matches my Jeep).
After a year of driving with aftermarket steel bumpers and a hardtop, and with 150k on the stock suspension, it was long past time for an upgrade. I got the heavy duty version and what an unbelievable difference! With the old suspension, the Jeep would noticeably settle about an inch + when I lowered the hardtop onto the body. Now it doesn’t drop at all! And the ride males for a terrific driving experience. It was worth every penny!
Bought the Heavy coil spring kit, worth every penny. Don't get the medium lift, you will regret it once you put a winch and bumpers on. I started off with just 2" pucks on top of factory springs, this lift is night and day. You will not regret this purchase.
I installed this in one day, gave my TJ about 2" lift, but more important was the handling and ride. The jeep doesn't have the looseness and body flex as it did while stock. Ride is good, not harsh, firm,& vibration free.
The reviews sound good.
The OME kit is great. Heavy springs ride a little stiff but will allow me to put heavier bumpers and a winch on. The spacers are NOT included and must be purchased separately, this is the way to get the 2.5” lift most are talking about. Asked about the spacers and why they are shown. Quadratec responded the photo is just a reference. How hard is it to take a photo of the actual kit? Please!
Overall this is a good kit. If I had to do it over again I would get the heavy suspension as another reviewer suggested, since it seems like even with two passengers the rear sags a bit. I have bottomed out the rear axle with this installed, and the rear track bar relocation bracket dented the floor pan and nearly severed my fuel pump wiring harness, which is kind of disappointing but I think a trade off due to using the relocation bracket instead of buying a new track bar.
The "complete" kit did NOT come with spacers though the picture includes them. Spacers are not on the inventory. Be sure to order the spacers separate to complete the kit. I would hope, in the future, the 1000 dollar kit would either include the spacers, or not have them pictured and would suggest also purchasing them.
