Reviews for Crown Automotive RT25008 Door Hinge Bushing Kit for 76-94 & 98-06 Jeep CJ, YJ, & TJ
Bottom line, that was twenty something dollars that I could have spent elsewhere.
Great idea that I had hoped would work for me. Unfortunately, it did not. Instead of sliding out, one old bushing rolled up and stopped moving just a very short way through the hinge and the punch got stuck. Another hinge bushing would not budge. Then there was the concern of hitting the body of the Jeep with my hammer as I tried to hit the punch with enough force to get the bushing moving. I suppose I could have removed the hinges and worked on them in a vice, but rather than fight it, I just bought a new set of hinges. Mine were rusty anyway.
One note - The punch could use some sort of centering device so that it goes through the hinge without hitting the hinge edges.
I'm with the others. Wish I had seen the honest reviews. There is a machined edge inside the hinge on my 98 TJ. Not as advertised. 5 bucks at best. Paid much more for a useless tool hoping for easy. I'll also now have to cut to length which will work but this should have fit as advertised. Sorry quadratec but you should view reviews and stop advertising and selling things that don't fit.
This product does not work on my application. It would suggest that my hinges need to be drilled to accommodate the bushings. This is not what I expected.
Total waste of money and time. The punch is to large for the hinges on my 93 YJ and once I used picks and a screwdriver to get out the old bushings the new ones are to long. Also I broke on of the new ones so only going to do the one side now. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!
Does not fit YJ. Driver is way too big to fit into the hinge and knock out old bushing. New bushings seem too thin at the top to not cause an alignment issue with the doors. Useless.
BUYER BEWARE!!! This kit does NOT fit the advertised Jeep models. The punch is completely useless on my 98 and several others, in addition to the bushings being twice the needed length and née to be cut way down to fit flush at the top. You CANNOT follow the provided directions for any hinge that has a machined “step” inside the hinge. Would have been REALLY nice to have known that before beating on that useless provided punch for way to long. Punch only fits from the top, but bushing must be driven out from the bottom. Quadratic offers other kits that appear to actually fit my model, so I guess I’ll be buying another kit...
Didn’t fit in the hinge holes for my 1988 YJ. At all. Complete waste of money if you have a YJ.
