Works as advertised, easy install
I had forgot that I already had this set up on my JK like 3-4 years ago. So for that whole time I never changed the coolant filter. Wonder why I was having overheating issues ! Just went ahead and put all the new parts on, and will definitely be changing the filter after 30 days
This is a must for older model JKs, especially if any concerns for casting sand in the engine (look it up). I've changed out my filter a few times now, and seems like I still see some sediment every time. That will inevitably gum up the JK heater core, then you are looking at a $2k dealer repair or cutting up your passenger dash. Install is simple with their video. I would say the tubing was very long, probably cut off around 12inches. I have mine under the Airaid CAI which is a massive box, and no issues. I really wish I would have bought this when I got the Jeep, or else FCA should have this as a stock item.
MY 2012 JK was used for the prototype for this kit and I was shocked by how much stuff was filtered out. At the time, my jeep had 65K miles or so, the radiator had already been swapped under warranty (extended) and the coolant system had been flushed. Mishimoto installed a kit and cut open the filter after 1,000 miles and then again after another 1000 miles. each time the filter had pulled a substantial amount of casting sand/debris out of the cooling system. This is a must have for the jeeps with the 3.6 that have been known to have casting sand left in the block from the factory.

Just installed my kit today, it was very easy. just keep in mind this is a bypass style system. There is no need to worry about the filter being filled with casting debris (sand) and starving the coolant flow. I am excited to put some miles on the jeep and cut open the filter to see all the grit and grime.
It leaked from the fiber cord on sides changing and tightening clamps didn't help. Mishimoto admitted warranty, I paid $40 shipping cost. I was extremely frustrated after the warranty replacement, just a week later, I noticed coolant droplets seeping out from the fiber cord of the hose structure. I attached photos showing the coolant droplets emerging from the fibers, the engine heat then dries them out, leaving only a pink residue. I’ve had enough trouble with this coolant filter kit and don’t want to deal with it anymore - I'll switch back to the stock hoses. That's sad, I paid around $200 for nothing!
Parts made by Mishimoto company have let me down repeatedly. I’ve had to replace components many times—including several warranty replacements, which aren't actually free since I still pay a hefty shipping fee and spend time on the replacement and bleeding air from the coolant system. I purchased a radiator, hoses, a thermostat, and a filtration system. I had high hopes for product quality, but:
1) The fitting near the radiator cap leaked on the very first drive - it turned out it hadn't been sealed properly, so I fixed it myself.
2) The radiator cap started leaking; I ended up buying a replacement because the shipping for a warranty cost more than a new cap with free shipping.
3) Radiator hoses leaked—exactly like the current issue—with coolant seeping from the fibers. Mishimoto sent me new ones under warranty, and I installed them, knock on wood - they’re working fine now.
4) During a trip to Canada, thermostat Mishimoto gradually failed; fortunately, I had brought the old one along. It was a difficult job far away from home, but I managed to swap it out. Upon returning, I bought a new OEM thermostat assembly for reliability, as I’d read Amazon reviews mentioning how frequently your thermostats fail.
5) Now my new filter hose has started leaking just like the old one, even though I had hoped it would work out as well as the radiator hoses did. Somehow, coolant is seeping from the inner layer into the fabric reinforcement and oozing out from every hose end, as shown in the photos I’ve attached. Of course tightening and changing clamps won't help, and I certainly couldn't damage it any way during the installation process. I’ve decided to remove your coolant filtration kit and revert to the stock, since your replacement part failed. I don’t want to spend money on shipping a warranty replacement only to install it again without any assurance that the leak won’t recur—forcing me to go through the whole replacement and system-bleeding process all over again.
Based on this bitter experience, I am deeply disappointed with the quality of Mishimoto products:((( and would not buy from them or recommend someone anymore!
