Reviews for Bestop 2-Piece Fabric Doors for 18-25 Jeep Wrangler JL 2-Door & Gladiator JT
Just installed Installation was a breeze, Fit really well, a lot more knee room which was a nice surprise, took on highway and was not that much louder. Seal was decent, they are soft doors so I was not expecting a perfect seal. Expensive Yes, Quality from what I can tell is also Excellent. One Issue I get is they do not come with side mirrors so know I am trying to figure out what type of mirrors to buy. As I don't want to spend a hour installing mirrors every time I want to take the hard doors off.
I really want to love these, but here are my issues...
-- For the price, these doors are not well-made (I purchased the "premium twill"). Out of the box, the stitching was coming undone and the interior velcro is barely holding on.
--The limiting strap is way too short and ripped out the grommet the third time I opened the door.
--Installing the locking mechanism was a pain, especially keeping all four of the tiny triangle cuts of fabric out of the way while anchoring the frame. Not a huge deal, but again, for the price point, it was much more hassle than expected. The guys in the videos made it look simple, but it's not. Oh yeah...the video here on Quadratec's website completely skips 1/2 of the lock install process.
--The top half of the door does not stay within the windshield frame and door frame at speeds over 50 mph. It catches the wind, and opens wide enough to stick your fingers through. I've bent it back multiple times, but it keeps happening. Not a huge issue, but really inconvenient when it starts to rain hard.
I've kept the doors and not returned them because they are "good enough" and make going doorless super easy on nice days. And there really aren't any other products like them that I've found.
I want to be able to go doorless this summer and still be able to shield my interior from rain. My friend has these and recommended them. First off my whole reason for 3 stars is because for $800 I didn't expect I'd have to install the door locks myself. The little triangles you have to hold inwards while trying to screw on 3 different pieces on both sides at the same time was impossible even with my 13 yr old helping me. If Bestop is going to make people pay so much they should make it easier to put together in this case the locks should be on already since it would still fit in the shipping box. 2nd attaching the top to the bottom is really hard while trying not to bend the door. It's definitely going to leak in the rain but I knew that because of my friends doors. Other than that the doors are great and I hope to get many summer uses out of them.
The doors seemed to work wish they fit a little better
I have a love/hate relationship with these. I love the freedom they give you. If it starts to rain I can just throw these on which is so much easier then the hard doors. They took a lot of tweaking to get them to work when I first installed them and the tops of the doors still blow out 3-4 inches when the wind is really blowing hard. I get nervous they tops of the doors will blow off. They recommend getting the Bestop mirrors (51261-01). These did not work at all. It took over an hour to drill out holes in the fabric and metal underneath. Once they were mounted to the holes in the metal they stuck out at the top and looked terrible. I took them off and built my own with a 5/8ths inch rod and some convex mirrors. Would recommend the doors but know they will take some tweaking and getting use too.
These doors look good on my JT and probably serve the purpose of keeping the rain out (haven't verified that yet). Although I have spent a significant amount of time adjusting these doors they don't fit / seal properly on the Gladiator. The top of the door also "catches" the wind and flexes out if there is a gust or speeds >55.
I like that I can keep these in the back of the Jeep under the bed cover in case I get caught out in bad weather. Not sure I would buy again though.
I tried so hard to love these doors. If your speed is above 45 MPH these are not the doors for you. They don’t even come close to making a seal with the body of the jeep, and they continually feel like they are going to shake off the jeep.
The Velcro isn’t quite big enough to hold the panels together either. So I’m a constantly trying to pull them back together.
Love the idea of these, but it just is not worth the money.
Disappointed for the price I paid. You can see daylight through the large gap in the front bottom corners, had to assemble the latches and every pic on the websites show mirrors on the front doors (mirrors aren’t included). Only positive thing is they are easy to put on and take off
The doors go onto the Jeep. Fit and finish leaves a lot to be desired.
These doors are a terrible fit, you can see daylight through many parts of the door. The rain comes in when it is parked, and when you hit 60 MPH the doors flap something terrible. The fabric is attached to the doors with Velcro and in many spots, the Velcro doesn't actually latch because there is not enough material.
The latch mechanism on the doors is terrible and after only five months of use, the keys don't work well anymore. They also print the lock number on the door itself which is a major security risk since someone can have a key made and get access to your Jeep.
The only positive thing about these doors would be that they can easily fit in the back of the Jeep. I expected much more from a Bestop product, but the poor craftsmanship will make me think twice before buying anything they make again.
I have tried to reach out to Bestop about this issue but they took down their online contact and the wait times on the phone are ridiculous so I was never actually able to reach a representative from Bestop.
I would not recommend these doors unless you don't mind getting your Jeep wet, having the doors flap in the breeze every time you go over 55, and
