Yes, the mounting location will not impact the seat's movement.

Does the flashlight holder come in aluminum or metal? The plastic gets brittle and snaps.

Is there a diameter range of the flashlight that this holder can accommodate if the accompanying flashlight is not purchased? i.e. using another brand of light but want to use the holder.
1 9/16" to 1 3/4" and D-Cell Battery spec flash lights should fit. Thanks for your inquiry.

What size and number of batteries for the flashlight?
Three D-Cell sized batteries are not included are required for use.

Why would this not work in a 2 Dr JL? Are the front seats not the same?
The 2dr seats need to move up and forward for rear seat access and this prevents the bracket from mounting correctly. Sorry for the inconvenience
