Reviews for McGard Wheel Install Kit for Jeep CJ & Wrangler
Installed on 1/19, drove a handful of times (not daily driver though roads are salted in this area), and on 2/20 noticed one wheel lock is rusting. Lug nuts have a "lifetime warranty against rust" so if they rust, you can get the problem corrected. The wheel locks, however, have only a 1 year warranty. I'm still within warranty, of course, but I must ship the rusting lock back to McGard (my cost), and they'll send a new one for no additional charge. The moral of the story is that the lugs nuts are pretty worry free, since they are guaranteed for life, but the locks are not. While the construction, fit, finish, and packaging of most of this product appears robust, McGard has a less confident warranty on the locks (perhaps they know that the locks 'fail' more often?) than the lug nuts. If I had to do over, I'd probably buy spline locks instead of the key locks. In fact, I may inquire with Quadratec if I may swap/return these before undertaking the warranty steps.
2 weeks post install, rusting.
These were perfect when I first got them and looked great but I had two problems with them. I wish they had one or two extra lug nuts just incase one goes missing or something. Lastly, the worst part about these are mine had got some rust spots on them in less than a month and McGard wouldn't warranty it.
Don’t waste your money on these. I had them on my rig for less than two weeks and they are already starting to rust. Very disappointed.
Garbage. The key failed after only three months, and during our first tire rotation. So here we are, with a three-wheeled Jeep, at the mercy of McGard's Customer Service, on a weekend. There is no other option but to wait on McGard, at least not with out risking damage to my AEV wheels trying to wrench off the locking nut. This kit should come with TWO keys, so you're not stuck when the first one fails.
