Reviews for Coverking SPC680 Topliner Hardtop Insulation Kit for 18-26 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited
Great mod. I purchased 2 additional rolls of 3M tape, and used all of it. I also secured all the loose edges with contact cement, and tightened up every edge that I thought might lift in time. A little trimming is required around the foam blocks, the back window, and the wiring entry points. I also trimmed back the excess before installing the rubber U-channel door trim. I installed the whole thing in a day, but played around with the details for another 2 days. Just making sure it was the absolute best job I could do. This molded kit fits remarkably well, with all the contours of the hardtop. It now feels finished, way more refined, and cozy. My 1200w system now sounds much better, with less hard surfaces throughout. Yes, this should come standard. Very happy with it, and I can definitely recommend this kit. I considered all the others, and this is the only true full coverage option out there, and it comes at a reasonable price. Take your time with the install, and I’m sure you’ll be happy with it. And yeah you’re on your own with the directions, and adhesive strip navigation. It took me an hour to figure all that out.
Very nice headliner, overall very satisfied. Greatly reduces the heat and noise. I felt there should have been more adhesive strips included, time will tell how well it sticks. It was very helpful to watch the videos, as mentioned in the other reviews no instructions were included on placement of the adhesive strips. Quadratec had very fast shipping.
Full coverage of the top. Looks like how it should have come from the factory
Quality
This is an excellent product that truly enhances the interior of the JL. Took about 6 hours but we’ll worth it.
The printed instructions are baffling. Printed on two sides, written instructions first, then photos afterwards, so you’re constantly getting referred to ‘Figure K’ or something on another page, you’ll spend far too much time flipping back and forth on a single step. There are some decent install videos on YouTube that are far more useful. The adhesive stickers are also not labeled which is frustrating — you’ll spend a lot of time comparing and organizing piles for the similar sized ones. That’s pretty much it on the negatives.
To ease yourself into it, would recommend spending one day doing just the freedom tops to get the hang of the adhesive, and another day on the main top.
The insulation material is good quality but can be abrasive to the hands/arms; would recommend using a towel or gloves when you need to press down & rub to secure the adhesive to the liner.
The window cutouts are the hardest part; you’ll want to spend extra time making sure the liner doesn’t overlap the window frame.
Overall I’m pleased with the result. The road noise is reduced (I can hear my stock stereo much better) and the Texas heat is less awful.
The quality and fit of the top liner was very good and I am happy with the end result. However, the adhesive strips provided were just thrown in a box. They were not the easy peel-and-stick strips like the ones shown in the instructional video. There was no brown backing, everything was clear and stuck together in one massive pile of tape. Nothing was labeled and no diagram was provided for where to place the adhesive strips on the top.
