New product. Hope I like
Storage capacity
The look, convenience and efficient storage.
Need better storage for stuff I have stuffed into a fabric cube organizer.
This is a great item to add some badly needed storage compartments in the rear of my Jeep. Fits perfectly even though I had installed spacers to recline the rear seat. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that you are forced to buy a set of two when it clearly and accurately states it will not fit on the passenger side if your Jeep is equipped with a subwoofer. Had to pay for two when I could only use one.
Description says nothing about passenger side not fitting with the factory subwoofer (although it seems rather obvious). Also does not say that it is not compatible with the Sky OneTouch. However, the driver side will work with the Sky OneTouch windows as long as the window is installed. The window will hold the bin in place while the window fastens in without issue. Of course, the bin will not stay in place when the window is removed. Otherwise the bins add some nice storage space.
I was surprised when, even after all of the customer feedback (many had not even ordered yet, making them irrelevant), the product was presented as a standard fit without modification for any JLU without a subwoofer. Four bolts are mentioned with holes required but with a soft top the door glass frames (which must be removed) preclude access to the front mounting holes. It appears the only options are to either not use the front holes resulting in a loose attachment or to drill holes in the door glass frames, the upper surface being curved and the lower flange usable if you set the fastener in before attached the door glass frame to the body. Finally, the storage bin raises the frame its flange thickness, resulting in the same gap at the top of the door to the door glass frame. As a design engineer for decades I can make this work (modofy) but also as a former publisher of a 30,000 member international automotive affinity group magazine, this kind of product and installation would have received poor marks. Did you guys even try installing this before promoting and selling it?
