Reviews for Rough Country Cold Air Intake for 18-21 Jeep Wrangler JL and Gladiator JT
Whoa. Finally letting my engine breathe was something I should have done sooner.
The sound is incredible, and paired with the Quadratec Axle Back Exhaust, it’s the duo we didn’t know we needed. The install is pretty straight forward, and I’m not one to take on big installs typically. Not that it’s a major overhaul, but typically messing with sensors and anything in the engine bay is best for the professional. But if you’re familiar with a wrench, you can do it too!
One tip, attach the rubber seal to the basket before you get started.
And second tip. Get the optional filter wrap. Just do it… it’ll be worth the piece of mind and help filter out the larger particulate before getting into the filter cone!
This was a very easy install. I’m certainly not a gear head but I had no major issues. Took maybe an hour. Just be careful inserting the sensor into the provided rubber grommet. I had it pushed in too far and I think it caused some issues where the throttle was not really responsive. I readjusted and started the truck again. No issues. The provided directions are not good. But there are number of good youtube vids from other suppliers that make it super easy.
It definitely gives my gladiator a nice growl when giving it some throttle. I love how it sounds. The throttle is more responsive. Some have reported an mpg boost. I haven’t noticed that yet but I don’t track that too closely.
Great fit in '23 Wrangler Sport. Install wasn't quite as depicted in the instructions, but easy enough to figure it out. Found it easier to fit up the air filter to flex tube through the heat shield, then connect the intake tube to that assembly, then push the intake tube into the adapter on the throttle body. Also, the style of hose clamps provided bottom out in their threads before making a tight connection. Probably tight enough, but I can pull the intake tube out if I give it a yank. Will probably replace those later if it proves problematic. Otherwise, pretty happy with it, especially considering the price.
Don't waste your time or money on this POS. I've installed at least 6 K& N and even a handful of Mopars and this is a piece of junk. Everything runs smooth until step 22 then nothing connects. The adapter is too big to fit through the heat shield and the flex fitting is too small for the adapter to go through the other way. Now I have to dismantle this garbage and try and make it work. Simply because shipping it back will cost 1/3 of the cost.
