Hello! Just had this installed and is working great, couldn’t be happier. One thing though it seems to be effecting the review alert system in the same spot everytime I reverse. Anyway to solve this problem?
The Teraflex 4838920 Alpha HD Hinged Spare Tire Carrier & Adjustable Spare Tire Mount Kit is heavily built and relocates the spare tire (often accommodating a larger, wider off-road tire). This larger mass or a more aggressive tire sidewall can occasionally sit close enough to trigger the factory rear ParkSense ultrasonic backup sensors or cross-path detection radar when shifting into reverse.
Check Tire Position/Offset: If the adjustable mount is set too close to the body or angled slightly outward in a way that shifts the tire perimeter closer to the bumper sensors, adjusting the wheel mount slightly further out or repositioning it on the bracket can clear the sensor's detection field.
ParkSense Sensor Calibration/Configuration: On JL Wranglers, if you have upgraded to a significantly larger tire size (especially with wider tread blocks or a protruding sidewall), the proximity sensors can sometimes read the outer edge of the tire as an obstacle. While factory sensor locations cannot be physically moved without relocating the bumper, ensuring the tire isn't sitting directly over or angled toward the inner corner bumper sensors helps.
Dealer/TDS Scan Tool Adjustment: In some cases, if the vehicle configuration was updated for larger tires, checking with a dealership or a shop with a Tazer JL / scan tool to ensure the tire size parameter is correctly calibrated can sometimes adjust module behaviors, though physical clearance adjustments to the tire mount position usually resolve the interference.
