I have a 22 hard top. It says I can’t order unless I buy a trek top first. Is that correct?
The answer depends on which version of the Halftop you are looking at. Bestop sells this top in two different ways, and as a Hardtop owner, you just need to make sure you select the Complete Kit.
The Two Versions Explained
Trektop Halftop Complete Kit: This is the version you need. It includes all the necessary door rails, brackets, and the front Sunrider section. Since you currently have a Hardtop, you don't have any soft top hardware on your Jeep, so you need this "all-in-one" package.
Halftop Conversion Kit (The "Accessory" Kit): This is the one that is likely causing the confusion. It is designed for people who already own a standard Bestop Trektop. It essentially "converts" their existing soft top into a Halftop by replacing the rear sections. This will not work for you because it lacks the windshield header and door rails.
What you need for your 2022 2-Door JL
Since you are starting with a factory Hardtop, you want the Complete Kit. Here are the correct part numbers for your 2-Door JL:
Black Twill (Premium Fabric): Part #53903-17. This is the heavy, 30oz "cloth-like" material that matches the premium Mopar soft tops.
Black Diamond (Standard Vinyl): Part #53903-35. This is the standard 28oz grain-style vinyl.

Are the side and rear windows tinted? It says they are in the description. Although all the photos I’ve seen don’t seem to look tinted.
They do ship with tinted windows.

Is this top completely sealed from the elements? Could this top be used in the winter like a regular soft top?
It will be weather tight when properly installed. Be aware in wintry conditions that cold weather cracking of window materials is not covered by the warranty. I would take care to not touch the windows in extreme temperatures or allow snow to and or ice to collect on the tonneau cover portion of the half top. So, while it will work for wintertime, caution should be taken with larger snow falls and ice events. Thanks for your inquiry.

does windjammer allow front seats to recline at all? Or does it get in the way? I have to have my driver's seat reclined a bit, just to drive...thx.
