Does this need to be uninstalled in order for the hard top to be used again? Years ago I had a similar top that I was able to put down and then place the hard top back over and I was looking for something similar. I currently have a 25 JL 2 door.

Yes, you must completely uninstall the Bestop Trektop Glide to put your hardtop back on.

I just bought a used JL with a hardtop. In my 2011 JK I swapped out the hardtop for the soft top every summer. I think I will do that with my JL as well, as in Wisconsin we can get a lot of snow and it can be -30 temps. Do you recommend the Trektop Glide or the factory soft top if just used seasonally? I would run it from early May to mid-October. And is the sailcloth one adequate vs. the twill (I had a factory twill top on my JK)?

Either brand or fabric will be perfect for seasonal use in your climate. What Is The Best Material For A Jeep Wrangler Soft Top? This article may help you decided which fabric you'd prefer to go with though.
