Reviews for QuadraTop Acoustic Hardtop Headliner Insulation Kit for 18-25 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
This is on a 2023 Gladiator.
On the positive side, I can tell things are a bit quieter inside at highway speeds. Little easier to talk and don't have to have the radio up quite so loud. Waiting until those 100+ days to see how the insulation part works.
On the negative, the instructions left me feeling like I was putting Ikea furniture together. Half my pieces weren't labeled. A couple of pieces were folded in the box (I say this because the video about the product calls out they did it in the interlocking pieces so they didn't have to fold up anything to ship it). Some of the instructions themselves were just wrong, one picture showed pieces going one way, another showed them another way. The front pieces were just a tiny bit too big, so they kind of stuck to the edges before the bottom of the panel, took a bit to get them how I wanted them. On the back, the two pieces that went in line for the top were a little too small. So I could pick the front piece lining up well and the back piece being out of whack, back piece good and front out of whack, or both piece good with a bit of a gap between them. I went with the gap, but I have a sunscreen on under the hardtop, so I don't really see it anyway. My biggest recommendation is to lay every piece out to see where they need to go before you peel anything to stick. Not like it's a hard install, just a bit frustrating.
The Positive:
This really does help reduce the cab volume at highway speeds considerably. I wish I had taken before and after decibel readings. I believe the advertised amount is probably correct. Since dB is logarithmic, 3-4dB is a noticeable difference.
Installation was easy enough.
The Negative:
The instructions suck. For the JT, half of the panels aren’t even mentioned. I watched the YouTube video that shows some of the installation, same thing. About have of the installation is shown in the video.
Looking at the panels laid out in the shape of the hard top got me almost all the way there, after some guessing.
I have two decent sized thin panels, and two very small panels I have no idea where they go. For as much as this costs, I would like to use every piece for maximum benefit.
Price: Why is this so expensive? The foam itself appears relatively inexpensive. The instructions are garbage. Finally none of the panels are completely covered. I imagine it would reduce even more sound if the entire hard top was covered.
I regret spending $350 on this, I wish I had gotten something like Coverking SPC683 Topliner Hardtop Insulation Kit that covers everything and appears to be much better quality.
