Reviews for Fab Fours Ghost Stubby Front Bumper for 18-26 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT
Bumper showed with minor scuffing from shipping. Was wrapped in a blanket but moved around quite a bit in box. Bumper is great, I will say the threaded holes for the bolts do not match the thread pitch of the bolts. Wrecked 2 bolts then said "F-it" and tapped for correct thread pitch. The bottom outside bolts need micro hands to get installed. The stock skid plate was reinstalled with two small slots cut into it to allow for bumper reinforcement to slide into. To close.... IT'S BADASS LOOKING!!!
Couldn’t be happier! Absolutely easy install for the bumper itself. I knew I would love it as much as I do! I did, however, have to make some incisions to accommodate the DV8 sway bar skid plate. Cuttoff wheel and some touch up paint and the two mated together like a dream! Powder coat is definitely top quality. Mine came gloss black and you can tell it’s high quality. Fabfours went above and beyond in the powder coat department and the quality of the build! I must say they have some great welders too! Ultra thick. Ultra heavy duty! Couldn’t be happier! It took longer to get the old one off than it did to get the new one on! The winch (Warn Evo 10S) looks like it will slide in pretty easy with the grill off. I am upgrading to a 2024 update grill to give more room for the wires on the winch controller and my measurements show that the winch should give me no fits with the grill off! I am also utilizing the factory fog light harness to act as the switch for my AUXBEAM lights. I ordered another bumper harness so I can sell the original with the bumper that I will tie into the AUXBEAM harness on the switch side of the relay. Amp draw to the fog light fuse will be minimal by doing it this way. I am absolutely overjoyed at the quality of this bumper. I’ve ordered a lot for every vehicle my wife and I have ever owned and this one takes the cake for quality in every aspect. Beautiful welds. Perfect fitment. Ultra high quality powder coat. Absolutely heavy duty 1/4” thick steel! The strongest and easiest bumper I have ever installed! You won’t be disappointed!
The bumper showed up with a couple dings on the box, but the walls of the box were like an inch thick. On top of that the bumper was wrapped in an actual blanket. Not foam, actual cloth. Did not come with instructions, just a QR code to find online, which is normal these days. Taking off the factory bumper took longer than installing the Ghost. All together it took a little over an hour. Can be done alone, but a 2nd set of hands helps. Just needed my son to come down and help wiggle the new bumper so I could get the hard to reach bolts started. The bumper looks fantastic, doesn't jut out too far like some that mount the winch down low do. I would suggest getting the outer 4 bolts to the frame started 1st as they are the most awkward to get to. The inner 4 can be easily accessed from above or below and are easy to see and get a wrench on. Will need some socket extensions, I think a 3" amd am 8" got me where I needed to be between all the bolts. Couldnt get my torque wrench on the outer 4, so just gave them as much as I could with a smaller breaker bar after using the impact. Super easy install, highly recommend.
Finish was marred on arrival, had a couple of bald spots we took care of with a paint pen.
Then comes mounting a winch…. The front bolt holes for the winch mounting point are tucked into a spot where the bolt supplied with the winch won’t fit, they’re too long. So now we’re subbing out for a shorter bolt.
Install was troublesome since the bumper isn’t studded, so you have to fish behind the mounting plates to put bolts in. It’s doable, just a pain, especially since you have to mount the bumper AFTER the winch is installed, because good luck fitting anything in there once it’s mounted.
Also, they’re absolutely NOT compatible with factory fogs. There are no mounting points in or around the bumper for those, and fab fours customer service said they are not compatible either. I assume they mean you can just mount the to the pre-runner guard and use the factory wiring harness… The pre-runner guards are slotted so narrow, too for 3 inch pods which they said are also compatible.
All in all, we spent more time doing modifications than actually installing.
To make it work, we drilled out and widened the pre-runner mounting points to get light pods mounted AND we welded proper studs onto the thing so one of us wasn’t holding the weight of the bumper and winch while the other was on the ground fighting to line up bolt holes.
Probably should have seen the non studded bumper and known to sent it back, but we’re committed to the bit now.
