Reviews for Crown Automotive 52018177K Complete OE Exhaust Kit for 93-95 Wrangler YJ with 2.5L 4 Cylinder Engine
The exhaust it self is good quality but the clamps it comes with do not fit you will need to but 3 new clamps. The cat need to be cut down about 3 inches and will and need relief cuts done for it to seal tight with no leaks. Once installed it’s looks good and sounds nice and quiet. If it’s not on sale for under or under $450.00 It would not be worth it.
As other reviews have stated, there are issues with this kit that doesn't make sense.
You should receive 3 clamps in the 2.25" size. Instead you receive one that's 2.25" and one that's 2".
It literally states the CAT is weld on by the manufacturer's sticker provided on the product. You can go to HF and buy a pipe expander and try to expand that SS pipe the CAT is welded to, but you'll end up with more of a trumpet than an expanded pipe (ss is harder to expand).
The downpipe end is factory expanded too much to fit into the CAT so once you get your trumpet made, you'll need to weld it; those clamps won't get tight enough to crimp down on the SS pipe.
The CAT provided has a threaded hole for an o2 sensor that YJ's do not have.
Be sure to order an o2 bung plug, or you'll end up welding that shut like I did too. YJ's do not use an o2 at the CAT, only one in the downpipe.
The HF expander works well on the muffler pipe which is not SS, so I got that expanded well enough to slip the back side of the SS CAT into it. The muffler is soft enough to crimp down to the SS pipe, not requiring a weld on at this part.
The welded on brace that sticks into the rubber on your transmission mount is different, but does slip in. New rubber is not provided for this location in the kit, but they do include new hanger rubber for the rear pipe.
I had to use a 32 year old rusty clamp from the original exhaust system to fix the tail pipe to the muffler. Looking at response here, the manufacturer claims you don't need a clamp past the CAT because it's "past emissions". So if you like leaky exhaust and a spinning and rattling muffler, you're good to go!
When you're all done and verify you have no exhaust leaks, you'll realize there's exhaust leaking out of the back of the muffler in 2 factory made holes. They appear to be drain holes above and below the outlet pipe of the muffler. Whoever designed this muffler is an idiot and I've never seen factory holes in any mufflers I've had installed in my lifetime. One of the reasons for replacing the exhaust in the first place is fumes coming inside the cab. Exhaust leaks are included free with this kit!
The price should be half or lower than listed due to the fitment issues and lack of correct parts for listed year models. If you still want to buy it after all that, removing the rear sway bar will allow you to get the tail pipe in and over the bar then you can reinstall. I did have my jeep on about 8" blocks for extra clearance under the vehicle. Do yourself a favor and buy a new downpipe then go to an exhaust shop and have the rest made with a real muffler. Be sure they make it where you can remove the exhaust after the down pipe. It makes getting your exhaust pipes out of the way possible so you can easily remove your transmission down the road.
I only give this two stars because it includes every part of the exhaust. That said, not one of the slip fit joints fit. Had to buy a HF pipe expander for $20. There are three joints, but only two clamps and one of those doesn't fit. Spent another $50 buying three lap joint band clamps. Additionally, cat isn't labeled for direction and system doesn't look like it has any rust prevention coating. Had I known I would need to make things fit, I would've preferred to buy a Flowmaster Force II cat back and pieced the rest together. I wouldn't have spent much more. I wouldn't recommend this for someone thinking it's gonna be a bolt on product. You'll need some fab experience or to have a pro install.
The fitment on this was ok but I had to chop part of the tip off as it would not clear the rear axle. As others have stated you need to order a 3rd clamp. My problem lies with after about 2k miles I noticed I had an exhaust leak. The welds around the muffler had broke loose. After disassembly and re-welding it ran fine until more welds broke loose on the cat. I've had this installed for about 3months and have had to take it apart nearly 4 times just to fix all of the shotty welds.
