Are these suitable for US DOT standards or for European roads only?
These are designed to meet European standards and do not have the necessary DOT markings for legal on-road use in the United States

Are these a direct replacement as to being able to replace an existing housing with these e-codes?
Yes, The difference is that the pattern of the beam is for Europe standards, so you do not blind the oncoming trafffic
