Reviews for Gauge Works 90000 Replacement Door Panel Pair for 87-95 Jeep Wrangler YJ 1/2 Steel Doors
Overall, I am fairly pleased with these panels. The OEM half doors that I found on eBay came with original panels that were in bad shape. It appeared as if the previous owner spray painted them, however they only used one can and their DIY project ran short. Needless to say it wasn't the form of art I was looking for on the inside of my doors.
I will admit I was fairly skeptical of these as there were few reviews on them and they were only $115. However, considering I didn't find any options other than $500 OEM panels online I took the plunge.
They did seem thin upon unpackaging and handling then, however I reminded myself that polymers and plastics have advanced since 95, so I remained calm... Some people were concerned about the arm rest and it not being stable, but that was not the case. The door is solid. Sure, it sounds slightly holly when you knock on it but that is expected, it is not as if it is a soundbar that you need to pack with poly fill, it s a door...
As far as appearance they look great! Took about 30-45 minutes to put on, mainly because I was taking my time.
The only drawback is that the outermost edge at the top, after installation was observed to be slightly 'curled up' creating an 'edge' (This is why I made it 4 out of 5).
I will post pictures of the panels,. My recommendation = worth the money, buy!
The clearly states: " Installation is a snap with all new fasteners." None come with the doors.
They look good but after a while lose the shape on the top. Seems from heat
These are nice but the fastener rivets are too small for my yj doors they will pop right out.
These look nice but they are overpriced.
Mine came with no packing material so they were banging around together in shipping. Plus one was slightly warped due to laying on a dock somewhere under other boxes.
You get no hardware other than plastic push pins. No door pulls, no bolts, etc. For this reason, the back, top edge flops around away from the door. So you’ll need to use Velcro or something to hold it together.
As I said, they look good but that’s the only reason they get a 3 star review from me.
Look nice but very VERY thin. I cracked the top putting in the new pins with very little pressure. Pins do not hold the panel to the door. Pretty loose. With have to makeshift something to make it work. Does look nice though!
Not bad for replacements. They don't fit really snug though but they work just fine. It's plastic and not super sturdy.
I just don’t really care for these. They don’t look as good as the oem panels
The panels look great except for this bubble right above the arm rest.
Door panels look good. The fasteners are absolute crap though. They do not hold the plastic to the metal door. Most of them popped out immediately rendering them useless. I am now struggling to find a replacement fastener long enough and wide enough to hold them. The top holes are also to small so you will need to drill them out some more.
