Reviews for Quadratec Sport Cage Hi-Lift Jack Mount for 97-06 Jeep Wrangler TJ & Unlimited
Great mount for the inside of your Jeep.
I love the idea that the jack is inside my Jeep, installing it was not that big of a problem it just takes common sense (30 mins is right ), the only changes I made was I added a longer bolt to the top of the jack to add my hi-lift lock. It fix perfect and it looks great in my 2003 Jeep Wrangler. There is still room to get in from the tail gate if I have my seat out, and need the back space for storage etc.
Great product great ideal !!!!!
Brackets fit great. I don't care for how close the nuts are to the adjoining bracket, but it works well to hold the Hi-Lift jack.
Simple and effective
works well but you will need a wrench to get your jack off the mount. would be better with thumb type wing nuts to remove when needed.
This is a great product provided that you do NOT have a 54” high lift jack. I had to modify it to work by taking off the bottom of the jack and putting a longer bolt in. It’s a stable product and I would recommend it. You will need to have a 48” and below jack.
Directions were well written. Brackets and mounting hardware were substantial and well made. Went up just like the pictures.
This is a nicely made item and looking forward to getting a jack that will fit. I have a Hi-lift 36 inch jack and it is too short to reach between the mounts. I'm investigating now what will fit. Hi-lift makes a 42 inch that may work. I'm concerned the 48 or larger will hit the side of the top. My 36 inch jack actually measure 42 inches from base to top, so I have to take that overage into consideration on the 42 as you only have about 6-8 inches of wiggle room before you hit the side. Trying to find a store that has a 42 so I can measure it. The nut on the driver-side mount is difficult to reach and there is no way to get a socket or a ratchet wrench on it with the mounting plate attached. I was able to use a thin walled wrench from my motorcycle kit to get it somewhat tight and then used the other side to make the hole thing tight.
Let me begin by saying this thing was a pain to install. While it says half an hour, I worked on it for over four. Here is where I have issues:
I have a 2005 Rubicon and while the instructions say don't attach the U-clamp around any padding this isn't a problem, the U-clamp won't fit but with the stock padding on my roll cage. So, I ended up having to roll up the black cover and cut about 1" of padding off both sides. Installing the end clamp (this is the smaller clamp and holds the top of the jack) was breeze, done in no time. The issue is installing the head clamp (large and heavy portion of the hi-lift jack)- the design is terrible and no matter how you try and install it, there is one bolt that you can't reach with a socket or wrench (yes the b/w instructions show someone using an open ended wrench to reach this bolt but it wasn't happening for me and I tried multiple wrenches.
After installing both clamps, I could not get the head of the hi-lift to line up with any of the holes in the head bracket. So, what I ended up doing was I attached the end of the jack to the end bracket but kept the wing nut loose. Then, I installed the head bracket directly to the head (this is the bottom/large part of the jack) but did not tighten the wing nuts. I then installed this bracket to the U-Clamp I had on the roll cage. As stated above, there is a design flaw here and when you have everything connected, you can't reach one of the U-Clamp nut. I know, tighten the U-clamp before you attach the bracket - that doesn't work or rather it didn't work for me. I have to keep everything loose so I can adjust them to line up.
I did buy a hi-lift jack handle isolator to try and keep the jack from rattling. The isolator works great for the handle and long portion of the jack, what rattles is the actual jack mechanism so I wrapped it in a blanket. While I like the idea of the jack being inside my jeep, given the grief this install cost me, I think I should have gone with an exterior install on my after market rear bumper. I'm not returning it since after 4-hrs I won the battle and it's now installed but I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
I made it work but U-Bolts are to short to fit around foam for where I wanted placement. Once I removed the foam no problem but my lift is not a Hi-Lift so bolt holes don’t line up on all mounts
