How difficult, and what is the process for removing the soft top once this is installed. Seems like it will be quite a project to do
Removing the soft top with the Smittybilt SRC Roof Rack installed is straightforward; you do not need to uninstall the entire rack.
1.Unzip and Remove Windows:
Start by unzipping the rear and side windows and sliding them out of their channels, then remove the tailgate bar.
2.Disconnect the Header and Retainers:
Unlatch the soft top from the windshield header and pull the plastic sailcloth corners out from the body tub retainers.
3.Fold the Top Back:
Fold the soft top completely back behind the rear seat or remove it entirely from the vehicle's factory brackets.
Verification: Check that the soft top fabric and bows clear the crossbars of the rack smoothly without snagging.

Will I'll be able to mount my smittybuilt roof tent on this rack? I have notice that the crossbars seem to me positioned only on stationary place or Im able to move crossbars in order to align properly with the tent mounting points.
You cannot freely slide or adjust the crossbars on the Smittybilt SRC Roof Rack. The crossbars mount into fixed, stationary factory pre-set locations on the rack frame rather than using an adjustable sliding track system.
Rooftop Tent Fitment Note: Because the crossbar placement is stationary, you will need to measure your specific Smittybilt roof tent’s mounting rail spacing against the fixed crossbar distances of the rack to ensure proper alignment. If the tent's mounting points do not align with the fixed crossbars, an adapter plate or an aftermarket flat tray/platform that clamps across the bars may be required.

How much taller than the original roof line will this rack be on my TJ? I'd like to try to fit it in my garage. Thanks.
Installing the Smittybilt SRC Roof Rack on your Jeep Wrangler TJ will add approximately 10 inches to your overall vehicle height.
If you are worried about fitting into a standard garage, the highest point of a stock TJ (approx. 71 inches) plus this rack (approx. 10 inches) brings the total height to roughly 81 inches. Most standard residential garage doors are 84 inches (7 feet) tall, leaving you very little room—especially if your Jeep has a lift kit or larger tires.

Hi there,
I'm looking to make an upgrade to my 2002 Wrangler and buy a roof rack, and the price point of this Smittybilt is very appealing. I have seen this model on other websites and noticed that the static weight capacity was listed as 300 pounds elsewhere for this same model. I'm trying to fit my Tepui rooftop tent as well as two people on this roof rack, all in all about 400 pounds of static weight. I wanted to clarify that the SWC is actually 700 pounds, and that this would work just fine for my needs. Thank you!
It is a maximum of up to 300 pounds of evenly distributed cargo. It is not safe to run for more weight than that, unfortunately. Thanks for your inquiry.

Can I install this if I have a snorkel intake or would it get in the way?
Racks with front supports that attach at the windshield hinges will have interference points with snorkels unless some modifications are made. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Is it possible to use this if the jeep has a body lift. I see that it attaches to the body and the frame so if those things are separated by say 3", then there will need to be an extension or longer rear down pipe option.

do I have to have the original bumper or will an aftermarket bumper allow this to work
Compatible bumpers must Not wrap around the corner of the Jeep where the rack mount attaches to the frame. So, it is compatible with the original bumper and most aftermarket bumpers.

No, you would have remove the end caps and would not be able to reinstall them.

The cross bars are designed for use with almost all aftermarket accessories (Thule, Yakima, etc)
