Reviews for Smittybilt 76837 XRC Fender Flares in Black for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
These flare are perfect for the look that I was searching for. The quality is there. They're solid steel and mounted perfectly. At this price range, there is no alternative. Love smittybilt products and am thoroughly satisfied with Quadratech. The shipping was extremely fast and free.
Great quality and very straightforward install. However, I had to use a drill on rears to pre-drill the holes for self tapping screws in order not to bend the fender itself while trying to go through it with a screw.
I definitely recommend this product!
one of the best investments for the price makes the lift look a lot higher and more clearance to flex and climb!!!
Work great and way cheaper than others. I decided against sheet metal screws in the rear and instead used rivnuts. Couldn't be happier. Can't believe I almost 1000$ on a different set. These are NOT armor like others however.
Fenders look great. Some of the bolts are in a pain in the assignment in the front to fenders, other than that there pretty easy
I got these cause I damaged my OEM fenders out on the trail. I didn't want to spend a ton, but I wanted to stop the damage on my OEM fenders. I was pleasantly surprised that they went on rather easy. All the holes lined up reasonably well, and I now had fenders that are easy to wind around obstacles on narrow trails. I have had them now almost 2 years, and so far have only had very slight damage that was very easy to fix, and touch up paint. I do wish they would offer these in either the crinkle paint surface, (only option) or smooth surface offered as an option. The OEM inner fender mating is a bit tricky, and their instructions don't really give much advice with it. I used the OEM inner fenders on the front, and deleted them on the rear. For the price I am very pleased. Since buying these I have been learning a lot more about fabrication and welding. I plan on using these as a template to build a set of tube style fenders out of heavier duty material.
The box was packaged nicely and no holes or dents!
Super easy to install. Hardware and fenders were wrapped tight. I wish there were tips on installing the fenders if you have a snorkel already. Fortunately I popped the fender forward to install the bolts towards the lower part of the fender where the snorkel is.
For the rear fenders you have two bolts holding the fender in and then you have to use self tappers…I rather use nut inserts…As of now everything is on tight and the Jeep looks good.
Knocked the whole job out in 4 hrs.
Hour to take old fenders off
Hour for the rain to pass
2 hours to install…
Also you don’t have to cut the support bracket off in the front of the Jeep; they have a notch cut out for them which in my opinion made it easier to install them.
I would recommend having: body color rust protection paint to prevent rust if your jeeps older and black paint to cover up some of the body that shows with the fenders…
Mine has spots of rust so I’m going to have to buy a new set and spray them which I didn’t do to the first set(didn’t think I had to) they look nice other than that!
These are good quality flares, easy to put on. I have 1.25" wheel spacers and 35x12.5 mud tires though and these fenders are narrow to the point where I can't see out of my windows after 15 minutes of dirt road driving, let alone heavy mudding. Not knocking the product, but I'm going to have to replace these with some wider flares, and want others to consider before purchasing these.
Simple install. Hardest thing was removing the stock fenders.
