The long skinny pieces do they go closest to the foam replacement or do they go at the edge of the top closest to the windshield when the top is closed?
The skinny strips mount along the ends of the windshield header. Thanks for your inquiry.

Where do the long narrow pieces go?
They go along the front edge of the header starting in the corners
