I have a 2015 JK 2 door with hardtop. I'm interested in swapping between the hardtop and soft top seasonally. After installing the soft top, does the hardware need to be removed to put the hard top back on, or can I just remove the soft top itself and be able to install the hardtop over the soft top install/hardware?
You will need to remove all soft top hardware in order to install the hardtop.

If I'm planning on switching between the hardtop and the soft top on a seasonal basis (winter), how much of a hassle will if be to switch them out (i.e removing/re-installing the soft top). I have the hard top on a hoist during the summer.

Difficult, no. Timely, yes. Each switch will take you a bit of time; and you'll get faster at it each time. We'd recommend QuadraTop Soft Top Storage Hanger to keep your soft top in good condition when it's off.
