I was highly skeptical of picking this combo. I had been using an aftermarket 4x6 speaker for the front channels and the VDP 6X9 boxes in the back. Essentially I couldn't hear the radio and have a conversation at the same time. The rear's sounded OK, but the sound stage was not right at all. Anyway, I ordered these over the 5.25 dash adapter for easy install. These sound great and the sound stage is much better. If I had to do it all over again I would probably just be happy with these speakers and box alone. At any rate, no regrets with this purchase. I will say I had to watch this product for a long time before I saw them offered with any kind of discount.

Speakers took about 2 hours to hook up. Everything you need is included in box. Sound is much better than expected.

Sound great and fit easily in my 79 Cj5. Had to remove the bottom plastic heater vents in order to fit, but no big deal

So for an 89 YJ the install was super easy and you have plenty of space. I'd recommend going up in size to their 6.5 in speaker box as that will also fit. Speakers sound great, install a breeze and seems sturdy.
Down side is they give you the shortest pieces of wiring to fit this into your harness. If you don't know anything about wiring get your youtube knowledge on as the instructions are worthless.

purchased this product for my 1972 cj 5 nice quality but i'm sorry it doesn't come close to fitting. I'm trying to make it work somehow but not pleased at all.
