In general its always a good idea to use an isolator when wiring in your winch. I've used them on both my TJ and XJ.

Every winch should have one of these.

This is a must to seperate the battery from the winch. Wiring is easy and actually gives you 12" more cable between the battery and the winch.

It was a little over-priced, but it included everything you need. High quality materials.
