Does this require a longer front sway bar link or will the stock ones still work?

The Old Man Emu 2.5" Suspension System for the 1976–1986 Jeep CJ does not include sway bar links in the base kit, and while the stock links can technically be reattached, they are not recommended for a 2.5-inch lift.
If you are installing this OME system, consider a compatible link upgrades designed for the 2.5-inch lift height:
JKS Quicker Disconnects (2.5"-6" Lift): These are the industry standard for the CJ. They are adjustable in length, allowing you to fine-tune the sway bar angle perfectly for the OME springs.

Will this kit put the front axle forward a little like the YJ springs?

No, the standard Old Man Emu 2.5" Suspension System for the Jeep CJ does not move the front axle forward on its own. It is designed as a direct bolt-on replacement for factory CJ springs.

Are these springs 2.5" wide? Is this kit available in A 4" lift?

Yes, these are 2.5" wide springs and will require a wider-than-stock front shackle. As for a 4" lift, no, Old Man Emu does not manufacture a 4" lift kit specifically for the 1976–1986 Jeep CJ. Old Man Emu’s philosophy is focused on "ride quality over height," and their official CJ catalog is capped at the 2.5" lift height.

I received my Old Man Emu suspension kit for my 1983 Jeep CJ-8. It appears complete except that there are no instructions. The instructions on your website differ from the parts in my kit. Is there a contact number for Old Man Emu?

Yes, you can reach Old Man Emu here

Does this kit come with upper shackle bushings?

Yes, it will. Thanks for your inquiry.

Do standard CJ shackles fit the leaf springs?

No. Unfortunately the shackle design is converted to YJ style shackles to allow the springs use on CJ models. Old man Emu does not offer springs for original CJ shackles, unfortunately. Thanks for your inquiry.

Is this kit offered for 1980 and newer Jeep CJ’s with the Dana 44 rear axle?

Unfortunately the kit is not offered with U-bolts for the Dana 44 rear axle. Sorry for the inconvenience.

How is a person supposed to know what weight class etc. lite, med., or heavy to order?

Light will accommodate otherwise stock Jeeps. Medium is meant for aftermarket bumpers, side steps, and a hardtop. The heavy option is designed to handle the additional weight of winches, racks, and overlanding gear.
