Can you explain exactly what the result would be if these were to be installed on a JKU? Would the flare overlap the gascap, and not allow for proper installation of the flare? Or would the gascap just be awkwardly aligned with the cutout on the flare, but not interfere with the installation of the flare?
Installing these two-door JK fender flares on a four-door JKU will cause a noticeable clearance issue with the rear fuel filler door cutout, leading to awkward alignment and partial overlap that prevents proper installation.

Fuel Door Interference: The rear flares are dimensioned specifically for the shorter wheelbase of a two-door JK, causing the wheel well opening and cutout to conflict directly with the factory gas cap location on an Unlimited (JKU).

Installation Impact: Because of this misalignment, the flare will overlap the fuel door area, preventing a flush, secure fit without custom body modification.

Other than the recess for the fuel filler on the drivers side rear fender, wouldn’t these fit a 2016 JKU ?
Yes, the fuel fill area is the only fitment issue.

No, these are not wider than stock.
Can these be installed with aftermarket metal fender liners?
They should be fine with most fender liners but you will have to check each brand you are interested in. This set of flares does not impact the inner liners.

Why does the high top fender flars for two doo not fit on a four door thay should be the same?
These could fit the 4-door Wrangler, if there is anything that will be effected it is the rear flare where the fuel filler opening is at. The openings are positioned slightly different on the two body styles and the new height of the rear flares has them molded around that area
