I'am running an old Pacesetter Performance 72C1190 header on my '89 XJ. Would this header be a good replacement or do i have to back to stock?

The Banks Power 51327 Revolver Header is generally not a direct bolt-on replacement for your 1989 Cherokee XJ.
The primary issue is the change in cylinder head design that occurred in 1991. Here is the breakdown of why this fitment is tricky and what your options are:
Compatibility Challenges
Port Matching: Your '89 XJ uses the "Renix" era 4.0L engine with high-port intake and exhaust. The 1991+ models (covered by the Banks 51327) use the "High Output" (HO) head. The exhaust ports on the Banks header are shaped and positioned for the HO head; if bolted to a Renix head, you may experience significant exhaust leaks because the header flange may not fully cover the head ports.
EGR System: Your 1989 XJ originally came equipped with an EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system. The Banks 51327 header does not have a provision (bung) for the EGR tube. If you are required to maintain emissions compliance, this header will not work without custom fabrication.
O2 Sensor Placement: While the Pacesetter you are currently running likely has a specific location for the O2 sensor, the Banks unit is designed for the 91-99 downpipe configuration.
Comparison to your Pacesetter 72C1190
The Pacesetter 72C1190 was designed specifically for the 1987-1990 Renix 4.0L. Since you are already running an aftermarket header:
Condition of the Pacesetter: If your current header is cracked (a common 4.0L issue), moving to a high-quality stainless steel header like the Banks is a massive upgrade in durability, but it requires the right fitment.
The "Back to Stock" Question: You do not have to go back to a stock cast-iron manifold. However, if you want a "good replacement," you should look for a header specifically cataloged for the 1987-1990 model years to ensure the EGR and port alignment match your Renix engine.
Recommendation
If you truly want to run the Banks Revolver, you would likely need to:
Swap to a 1991+ Cylinder Head (0630 or 7120 casting).
Modify your exhaust to eliminate or bypass the EGR (depending on local laws).
Otherwise, I recommend searching specifically for 1987-1990 Jeep XJ 4.0L headers to ensure a seamless swap without the need for welding or port-matching issues.
