Reviews for Poison Spyder 1703030P1 Standard Width Steel Front Crusher Flares in SpyderShell Armor Coat for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Somewhat difficult to install. A well stocked toolbox will help. Well worth the time and effort. They look awesome
Poison Spyder crusher flares are fantastic. Fit and finish is exceptionally good.
Strong and gives good clearance. Not easy to install but well worth it. A well stocked tool set makes it much easier and faster.Hex driver for sockets and the blind insert tool are a nice asset. Spydershell is holding up well and they look good. Do not forget the added light and connect the turn signal if you are on the road.
Perfect fit, indestructible!
The product is incredibly nice. Fits Well. Quality product all around. That being said the installation with the vented liners is a bear. Do yourself a favor and get a bag of 5/16 18 Nutserts, a good nutsert tool, a nice set of drill bits and skip the nuts and washers in those impossible to reach spots.
These fenders are solid as can be. The additional supports to allow the fenders to fasten to the steel inner frame versus the exterior sheet metal only is worth every penny extra over some of the competitors. I love the look, the fit and the craftsmanship on these. They are very time consuming to install. It says 2-3 hours, it took me that long for the first side alone. Second side was bit faster after learning a thing or two on the first side. I have no doubt these will hold up for years and they look great. Be ready to drill a lot. And when it says they recommend you use a professional nutsert tool, do so. Trust me, it is life saver and saves time and probably damage. I also installed the inner fenders sold by poison spyder, so can't comment on the process for installing using the existing inner fenders but looks to be quite the process.
Ok first I would like to say I think Poison Spyder has a great design team. But there finished product has a lot to be desired. I had heavy weld splatter all over the inside of the Crusher Fenders front and rear. The weld splatter was everywhere even in the counter sinks and to make it worse they powder coated over the splatter. Needless to say I was very disappointed with their craftsmanship.
Installed them just over 2 years ago. Will say it was a relatively easy install, just take your time and invest in a nutsert tool. Also drill the holes with a step bit just a fraction smaller than it calls for. This along with some red locktite on the nutserts helps keep them secure. The Spydershell finish leaves a lot to be desired however. After the 2 years I have what looks like bubbling under the powder coat where the tubing is welded to the flat plate. Not sure if it is caused by improper prep before powder coating or just dirty welds. They haven’t caused flaking or peeling yet but I can only imagine it is just a matter of time (especially if it hits a rock or rubs a tree wrong). When it gets to that point I will take them off, strip them and rattle can them. My suggestion is to save money, buy them bare steel/aluminum and finish them yourself.
Had these on my Jeep for two years.....TOTAL RUST MAGNETS!!! Donot waste your money
