Reviews for Poison Spyder 1763030P1 Brawler Mid Width Front Skid Plate in SpyderShell Armor Coat for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
It finishes off the bumper nicely.
You should definitely include the front skid plate with your Spyder bumper. It really pulled everything together and adds significant protection to the front undercarriage. I recommend installing it to the bumper prior to installing the bumper. It is nearly impossible to access all the bolts once the bumper is installed.
Looks awesome and completes the bumper, says you have to trim the crash bar but on my 2016 I didn't have too at all.
Looks a ton better than the stock plastic plate under stock bumper. Installed with the brawler mid width bumper. I read the only other review and I'm not sure if they changed the instructions because it was clear now that it needs to be installed with the skid plate on. I guess you could try with the bumper already installed but it looks like it would be a pain. I was concerned with removing the crash bar but it wasn't that difficult. I used a sawzall and it cut through with no issues. I have a 2017 rubicon and I tried to install with crash bar on and it would not go so I just decided to remove it all together. The instructions were correct, it is superficial and not needed after this skid plate is installed.
Mouting the skis plate to the bumber took a lot longer that one would have thought, mostly due to the splatter that made for extremely tight clearences for the nuts and bolts. If you think, like I did, that you are going to sneak this over the crashbar, forgettabout it. Same yourself some time and cut the damn thing out of the way! Oh, I forgot to mentio this in the bumper review, but when reviewing the Brawler Mid, I didn't find any mention of relocating the vacuum canister (some you do, some you don't). This one you do, so save yourself the time and plan ahead on that part of the project.
Was not obvious but I needed to attach to bumper before installing. Was a bit tedious, but looks and works great.
