Reviews for Tuffy 326-01 Security Products Deluxe Security Deck Enclosure for 11-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
great quality product. Installation is compatible to the quality. I'm sure the average joe will have complaints but I was very pleased with installation. I feel it will more than serve the purpose because of the quality and degree of installation. Recommend.
The install was easy, I completed it in about 40 minutes going slowly. The instructions have pictures, and are well written. A few steps are even underlined to clarify the importance. Obviously the other reviewer tried installing something without reading instructions. All the pieces fit together. The packing was amazing they went the extra distance to make sure nothing got scratched in shipment. If I had anything negative to say about this product at all, is afterwards I found myself wanting some spots to tie bungi cords to above the product, however it hard to really complain with the price being so good on this product compared to other products available.
I really like this security enclosure for the large space it offers. I bought this in Oct 2023 so I’ve been using it now for over 2 yrs. It seems very secure as well. Of course anything can be broken into with enough force and time but thieves are opportunistic and this hides everything and looks great too. Totally sealed and closed (not water proof). All bolts to remove it are on the inside so no one can just take it apart with tools to break in easily. I have the 2014 JKU with factory sub and I thought install was easy. No drilling at all. I love the extra raised height in the middle. For me I wanted the largest possible space inside and this one was it that I found. I go camping and it holds tons and I keep the top off as much as possible for months (lucky enough to have a garage to park it in).
Now here’s why 4 stars and not 5. Some may say these drop it to 3 but not for me. When trying to slide the top into the grooves the white sliders are not gapped enough to go into the grooves. So I had to get a small hacksaw blade to widen the groove in the white sliders spacers. I suggest you test them individually first before mounting and then getting frustrated as I did. Once I widened the gap then no issues sliding on the top. The other is the lid doesn’t stay up. I just keep a short piece of wood back there and place it in the notch on the sides and place inside the top. Just like you do for your hood. Works fine for me and simple. The last is the issue with putting the freedom panels in it. For me I had to undo the bottom bolts for the panel that goes against the back of the seat as one panel is too wide. This allows another 2 inches and then they fit just fine. Now this also then leaves access a little as the bottom is now not attached but I fixed with using a small piece of sheet metal I cut and attached. For me these 3 items are small and I could easily fix myself and ok for me to get the extra space. I also didn’t want to spend $1000 on this as it’s just cut metal. I’m happy with it.
Sturdy box and easy to install however the wheels for the lid did not line up correctly so I had to by shims (washers) to get them to line up right so the lid could slide and lock into pleace.
Fits pretty good in the back of my 2Dr JK. It was just what I was looking for to be able to secure my gear when the tops down.
Easy install and great security although you lose more storage area than you would think.
Assembly is relatively straightforward. Tightening the hardware for the sidewalls is easiest with 2 people, 1 with small hands and skinny arms to hold the carriage bolt between the cabinet wall and the fender well. If you're installing this to secure the back while you go topless or use a soft top, disconnect the plug for the electronic door lock of the tailgate. Found that the provided gasket for the lid against the tailgate prevents the retainer for a soft top to fit correctly. If using with a soft top, simply keep the gasket off.
Easy install. It’s nice to have somewhere to keep items safe when the top is off.
The product would be so much better if it had some weatherproofing, or at least a surface that didn't scrape easily. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this and I'd buy it again, but here are the shortcomings: 1) No gas strut to hold open the lid. 2) The box cuts into the back seat if you put in the seat spacers to angle the JKU back bench so it's comfortable 3) The box isn't weatherproof enough to be great for bikini top (currently looking at ways to circumvent that) 4) The factory soft top hangs down in the space that this box occupies so getting the mopar soft top bag is a bit of a pain to use. 5) there are no fasteners on the top or sides, nor is there any engineered solution to hold the lid up.
Relatively easy to install and looks alright. Mine was damaged a bit in the packaging, or was bent on the front lip of the lid. Had it adjusted as far forward as it would go and almost put my back window out trying to close it. Had to bend the leading edge down so the window would clear and works fine now. Would definitely suggest adding a lid support to hold it open. Kind of a pain getting heavy recovery gear out with only one hand.
