Reviews for Rugged Ridge Fold & Tumble Vinyl Rear Seat for 76-95 Jeep CJ & Wrangler YJ
Perfect fit
Looks nice and matches perfect, I did have to do some modifications when it came to installing the seat belt bracket, so have a drill and file on hand.
Its supposed to be matching to frt set
The two front floor brackets don't fit the holes on the tabs. I guess I need to drill them bigger. Where is the QC? Call customer support but the person hang up on me.
Love the material of the seat and the ability to both folder down and lift up to take advantage of space in the back when needed. One downfall is the mounting, I knew there would be some mod to mounting but hook for the seat latch and spacing for the seat stops was quite a bit off from each other and the existing mounting hole for the back of the original seat. Still, a lot more comfortable than the old beat up original I had.
Ordered in March of 24. Just getting around to unboxing and installing the tumble and fold seat in a Jeep CJ. The color matches the font seats perfectly I ordered the fonts and the back all at the same time. The seat frame and attachments areas are heavy duty and appears they will last. The seat back is bent and will not lock into place. The inside of sealed box from the factory was a mess. The seat was not wrapped in protective bubble wrap and the contents of the parts box were all over the inside of the box, resulting in some scuffs on the seat material. WARNING! inspect the box as soon as you receive it. Don't wait 10 months to find out your seat is damaged. If I would have inspected sooner, I would have returned for a replacement
The seat itself looks great but it doesn’t fit a 92 wrangler with out some modifications
I had to drill out the front two bracket holes and remove the powder coat from the pegs that slide in.
The rear latch doesn’t match up with the hook that is provided. I left everything loose and tried to get it all to line up but ended up having to slightly bend the rear hook to get it to latch. The mounting location per the instructions has the hook locating just outside the latch hoop. I’d expect a lot less modification for a seat that costs nearly $300
The seat itself is good. That's about it. I have several issues with this seat, however.
For starters, it comes with new brackets that use E-clips instead of the factory R-clips. This makes it a lot harder to remove the seat, as now you'd need a pick or screwdriver to get them off.
Second, the hinge pins are a VERY tight fit in the seat, I had to sand off the paint / powder coat on the hinge pins to even be able to get them into the seat ears. Even then, I needed to use slip jaw pliers to get them in.
Finally, this seat does not latch the same way that the factory seat does. You need to remove the factory latches on the sides of the cargo area, and install the included hook style latch piece to be able to lock the seat down. However, when I went to install it, the latch plate did not line up whatsoever. No matter how I had the front brackets oriented, whether I had the seat mounted in the further back seat bolt holes or the further forward holes, the latch plate did not line up. The closest hole is the one at the very end, and it is still about half an inch away from the factory hole in the floor.
For $380, I expected much better, and I am thoroughly disappointed.
