Reviews for B&M Racing 45195 Precision Sport 6-Speed Shifter for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK
Quadratec, it's been a while since I installed the b&m sport shifter on my 05 Rubicon. Should have bought one of these along time ago. This is one slick unit. No more popping out of first gear, no more raking going from second to third. Shifts all most like new. D.Rue
My 1st gear wouldn't stay in gear. Hit a bump it popped out. Very dangerous pulling into traffic. Bought the shifter. Had it installed professionally. Best item ever. Tight short throws that lock in each gear.. Highly recommended!
Awesome upgrade! My stock shifter gave my dog anxiety because of so much wobble.
4th gear no longer pops out, but more importantly, I have more room for my tall drink cups, LoL.
I was able to use a 1/16" NPT to 1/8" NPT adapter, a 1/8" NPT street elbow, and a 1/8" NPT to 8mm (5/16") push connector to connect the NSG370 breather to my ARB breather manifold located at the top of the firewall. I was able to push air into the tube from my mouth and could feel the pressure build and blow back at me, so I am confident that it is sealed well. YMMV.
No more popping out of gear
This is a bit costly. Heck its really costly but it is well worth it for a manual transmission in a Jeep. No more popping out of 3rd gear or missed shift due to Jeeps sloppy shift mechanism. I recommend this if you have a manual transmission
Nice positive feel when shifting. Replaced shifter on '08 JKU after 130,000 miles. Night and day difference.
Hands down one of the absolute best upgrades I've done to my 07 JKU Rubicon.
No more jumping out of gear, no more shifter shaking like a scared Chihuahua. I would also highly recommend you add the B&M Shift Lever as it eliminates the rubber isolator on you stock shifter. Makes for a super smooth and clean shift every time. I wish I would have known sooner just how much this improved the driving experience!
Yes, it's fantastic! Everything the other reviews say and more! It's a whole new dimension for driving a manual wrangler! I don't have much else to add along those lines. So I'll just add some tips/observations. It's expensive, yes, but if your JK is jumping out of gear, you could reach this dollar amount pretty easily just chasing the problem. This job is significantly more intimidating to read about/watch than it is to actually do. To pull the shifter knob, straddle the console and just use force while twisting. Have some leather gloves for this as well as the foam isolator. The metal console is sharp, and rusty. Buy a new foam isolator, don't bother even trying to reuse the old one. This shifter is an investment, spend 20 more dollars.
I drove on this for 12 hours, then I changed my transmission fluid. Night and day difference. Change your transmission fluid as well. Low profile hex sockets (14mm and 17mm) a small extension and a swivel ratchet, and you won't need to worry about getting around the exhaust.
Last note, if you've been watching install videos on this, you might be wondering about the gasket. Quadratec has the newer version of this item that DOES include the gasket.
The shifter does exactly what it says it will. An added bonus for those with a body lift, it's short throw fixes the problem of the shifter hitting the interior trim. I was using an extension before the shift box replacement, and combined with the body lift and weak detents, it kept popping out of gear randomly; sometimes violently enough to almost make me piss myself. This is well worth the cash. Shifts are definitely shorter, crisp, and lock into place solidly.
