Will these cover the pinch weld? What is width of step?

How well do these prevent rocks from hitting the side of the Jeep, especially the door hindges.
These Running boards will provide very good coverage from road debris. You may want to consider Mud flaps.

Do factory rock rails need to be removed?
Yes, if you have Rubicon Rock Rails they must be removed before installing these steps.
