Reviews for Poison Spyder 19-67-010P1 Bruizer Rear Bumper for 18-23 Jeep Wrangler JL
Installed one by myself (well my 6 yo grand daughter was a big help) today on my 2019, install was pretty simple no issue with alignment or mounting holes. I prewired the led lights as outlined in the instructions and used some strong 2 sided tape to keep the spacers lined up. Used a couple of floor jacks to get it close then began bolting up. A stated earlier the 1.5 "x 1/2" bolts for the passenger side are to short, I made it work by not installing the lock washers at first, then backed them out one at a time and installed 2" with lock washers. I installed a red LED light behind the poison spider emblem to illuminate it but it doesn't really have the effect I wanted because the spider in on such an angle you really cant tell what it is,(oh well the electrical tools were out so I thought Id try it.). Its a good looking bumper and strong enough, I wish it had a mat finish, its easier to touch up after damage or welding on it. I still need to fab a license plate holder, right now its zip tied to the spare.
I was one of the first people to have this bumper when it came out on production. This bumper is awesome! It is much narrower than the typical aftermarket bumpers and clears beautifully. The installation took no more than 10 minutes in my driveway. The style of the bumper is beautiful with nice angles. The rear flood lights were easy to install and adjust. It is much easier to adjust the lights if you do not have a stock exhaust in the way.
This thing was a bear to mount. First was getting the cube lights in. Once installed you can't adjust the tilt of the lights, one side is blocked from getting an allen key on it to tighten/loosen. It also doesn't tell you (until you read the directions) that the lights aren't accessible once the bumper is installed although it does make sense. As for the bumper itself...there is nowhere to mount a license plate or otherwise relocate the plate. There is also no provisions for the backing sensors which I wish I had realized prior to ordering this bumper. The supplied hardware used to mount the bumper to the passenger side frame horn was too short, I had to run and buy longer bolts. I also had to modify the bumper in order to get the OEM hardware on the driver side from horn (bottom) to work, the holes in the bumper didn't quite line up. There is also no provision for the trailer wiring. Bumper looks good though, seems pretty solid.
Previously I purchased the matching front bumper and it arrived very well packaged to protect the bumper and it included all the necessary hardware. So when I purchased the rear bumper on 5/17/2022 I would have never expected what arrived.
If I could give zero stars I would.
I did receive the poison spyder bruiser rear bumper but:
1. The bumper shipped and was supposed to arrive on 5/24/2022 but got delayed multiple times with little to not details as to why.
2. when the bumper did arrive I didnt get any of the associated mounting hardware or mounting plates that are suppose to come with this bumper.
3. The bumper also did not arrive boxed up but rather wrapped in plastic.
4. Because of the lack of packaging the bumper arrived with all kinds of deep scratches, gouges , and marks in the spyder shell coating that go through to bare metal.
5. I did not receive any installation manual for the bumper.
Im very disappointed with this purchase.
I had a similar poison Spyder bumper on my jk and it was great. I would seriously suggest staying away from this bumper on the jl. As the other reviewer said the supplied hardware isn’t long enough. I also purchased the tire carrier and when torquing down the bolts to the recommended from the poison Spyder instructions of “at least 60 ft lbs” one of the bolts snapped before my torque wrench went off ( was using a good quality wrench that hasn’t been dropped or damaged). The tire carrier is the worst part about the set up. Not sure if they just took the dimensions off the jk but it doesn’t fit the jl. The tire carrier hits the Jeep tail gate hinge ( no matter how it’s adjusted) and rattles/clunks going down the road from that. I have contacted poison Spyder and sent them pics and they are nearly silent. They said the engineers are looking into it and can’t understand why the alignment is so off. This has been weeks since I told them about the issue. I rarely write reviews but felt it was worth it to save someone the 1400 or 1500 dollars. When i think of poison Spyder I think of premium brand but at least this specific product (and their customer care) is junk.
