Reviews for Rugged Ridge 11543.16 Winch Mount Plate for 18-21 Jeep Wrangler JL & Gladiator JT with Factory Steel or Spartacus Front Bumpers
Easy install, good instructions, simple to adapt factory skid plate brackets so that the skid plate re-installs. Smittybilt winch easily fit onto plate.
This is very sturdy and easy to install I highly recommend this product for your JL OEM steel bumper, it comes with everything you need and does not need modification of any kind when paired with the rugged ridge 12500 lb winch..
This is a GREAT mount! I found that the mount from Mopar and WARN Wench were unavailable, so I chose the Rugged Ridge. The ease of installation was very surprising, it was almost intuitive once you start assembling. I would recommend watching a You-Tube video regarding dismantling your bumper and accessories, but the installation was very easy. Total time was about 4 hours and that was being methodical in the process.
The winch plate fit was perfect with one exception, the front opening was too tall and had to be modified so as not to wear our synthetic rope out dragging on it. Not all winches set as high as others. We modified it and cut out the area that rubbed the rope and it works great. You might think to let the manufacturer know of the problem. Picture below.
Install was pretty simple just time consuming. The only downside to this kit is they don’t include a front plate to cover the holes in the OEM winch area that are exposed. So when you pop off that front cover you will only have your fair lead that came with your winch on it. The warn kit comes with a cover to put on it. For the extra money I would of spent it on Warn’s since now I’ll be spending more to find a plate to cover those holes.
Great product. There is some modification of the bottoms mounts that hold on the bottom air dam on the JL/JT bumper. You have to drill and cut the factory mount to enable it to slide forward to match the new hole location. Not hard, just an extra step. Also, once the winch is on you need to position the air dam mounts and then re-remove the bumper to tighten the bolts for those mounts. Because if you screw on the bumper you’ll (I did) have a REALLY hard time getting them tight!! But man, it’s a solid piece of steel!
Quality made but disappointed that it doesn’t come with a plate to cover the holes in the front of the bumper like others. I wish I would have realized this ahead of time. Buyer be ware.
